Last Weekend as a Family of 3!

We've been keeping it low key so I don't go into labor just yet. We mostly hung around the house and enjoyed this beautiful weather!

On Friday we got boo'd! A group of my Bluff Park Moms has been leaving surprise gifts at each others' houses over the past couple of weeks. We got ours on Friday! Sam was mostly excited about the suckers and stickers. :)

I got this little lawn mower for $5 at the consignment sale weeks ago. We finally got it out to give to him and he loves it! He loves to be just like Dada.

Saturday the neighbor kids across the street were running around testing out their Halloween costumes. Sam's costume isn't quite ready, but I had this monkey one that I got at the consignment sale for him to play dress up in so we put it on him. He loved it! He was jumping around and making monkey noises. It was really warm too, which was good because it got chilly out there as the sun went down. He was such a chubby, warm monkey. I couldn't stop squeezing him! :)

He LOVES to play with the big kids!

Anna has all kinds of little animal figurines. Sam loves playing with them. He laid like this for 30 minutes or so just setting them up and looking at them. Check out his little banana in the pocket!

Real life monkey!

I spent a lot of time hanging upside off the couch on an ironing board. Slightly difficult with this crazy monkey around! haha

We also spent some time on the couch watching football. Sam was being very sweet and cuddling with the baby. He wouldn't let me cover up my belly and kept hugging, petting and kissing him. :) I can't wait to see these two together!

Today we made Halloween sugar cookies. I found a really good recipe that didn't spread to lose the shape and was chewy and yummy. If you're interested, this is it!

Sam loves to help me bake things. He especially loves dumping things in the mixer and turning it on. We really need to build him a learning tower. I move him from counter to counter to table as we bake now.

Cutting out the cookies. He totally learned to say 'bat' really well, squeak and flap his wings like a bat while we made these.

He also learned that cookie dough is delicious (bad mama!) I have to admit I didn't set a good example for him. He kept going 'nom nom nom' to let me know he wanted more. ha!

I may have taught him that that orange stuff was sugar goodness too. : /

It was interesting trying to get the sprinkles on the cookies. I wound up letting him stand in the chair and dump piles. There were sprinkles everywhere! He really liked putting the 'eyes' on the ghosties.

He was truly proud of all of his cookies!

Daddy got home from his run right as we finished so I had Sam pick out the most special cookie for him. He chose a ghostie!

His beautiful cookies.

After Mark tasted and approved the cookie he asked Sam for a high five and Murph (who had been watching us with these cookies and licking his lips) jumped up and gave ten! haha....Murph's like I will totally give five if you give me a bite!

Finally trying out the goods! He hand picked cookies for two different neighbors and we bagged them up and delivered. Of course he had to take some to Anna. He was so proud to take them to her. So sweet!

Oh and today is due date day! I had fun celebrating with the fam. If things go like they did with Sam my water should be breaking about midnight tomorrow night ;) We'll see what happens!

Like mother like son. ha!

At the Carnival!

We had such a fun time at Alabama Power's Family Counts Day today! Apparently this has been going on for years and we just never knew about it. We'll definitely be going every year from now on. It was awesome! They really go all out and every bit of it is free, which is one of our most favorite things. :)

They had a huge tent set up to sit and eat all the yummy food. Big buffets of hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salad, fruit salad, Full Moon bbq, baked beans, potato salad, chips, desserts galore (including the yummy chocolate dipped Full Moon cookies) and coolers full of ice cream. It was amazing! There were also tents with corn dogs, turkey legs, funnel cakes and lots of huge bins full of water, soft drinks and sweet tea all around the fair grounds. All free! Whatttt?? We could hardly believe our eyes and totally over indulged.

We hit the buffet first thing. Sam was amazed at the spread. ha!

Digging in!

Sam liked the big drink tubs!

His first ever 'ride'! He got this little truck all to himself. No fear or hesitation at all. He loved it! He loved driving with both steering wheels the whole ride.

Onto the next ride. Ladybugs! This one went a good bit faster, but he hung on and had a blast. He rode this one later in the day too. So fun!

With my babies! 39 weeks today!

Sam's never really been in a jump house because there's always so many older kids that could jump on him. They had a ton of them out there today and this one was empty!

We weren't sure if he was big enough for this froggie ride. The guy didn't say no so up he rode. When they put the bar down it completely covered his face. We didn't know what he thought about the ride because we couldn't see him! No tears so I guess he liked it ok :)

 He looked so little!

So high up!

I was sure he wouldn't like this one, but it was his favorite! Lots of spinning around with daddy. He laughed and smiled ear to ear the whole time!

I snuck on this little ride. It was very very slow and easy. Just a slow rock back and forth. Glad I got to ride one with him! :)

They even had a petting zoo! Checking out the baby pig.

These goats were literally standing on top of each other trying to get to the food! Sam loved it.

Getting a tiger paw airbrush tattoo

Playing games with daddy. Again, totally free! And you didn't even have to actually win the game to get a prize. Thank goodness. We weren't so good!

I missed on all my turns so Sam took things into his own hands!

 Ice cream time!

 So glad we had wipes!

His first balloon animal. A bee! Bees go 'zoooommm' and give 'mama booboos' ha! Sam will never forget me being attacked by a bee in the car.

They even had a pumpkin painting area with the sweetest little pumpkins. He didn't want to leave. I kept asking if he was done and he'd say 'no. another!' because he wanted another color. He would've stayed here for an hour if we let him. The boy likes to color!  He was very proud of his finished pumpkin.

Overall, such a fun day! Thankful we found out about this and I hope we get to go again next year!

Choo Choo out to the Pumpkin Patch

There are quite a few pumpkin patches in and around Birmingham. We decided to try out the Heart of Dixie's Railroad pumpkin patch this year. We can hear trains from the house and Sam always loves 'choo chooing' with them so I thought he might like. We bought our tickets this morning. The ticket station was nicely decorated with lots of cool old train memorabilia.  I loved this old bench.

Of course I put us both in stripes! We had a costume change right after. It definitely didn't feel much like fall today!

They had lots of fun train toys in the gift shop and quite a few train tables too. We bought a table on sale for Sam to be given at Christmas. I think he's going to be excited to have his own!

Handing the conductor his ticket.

They have open air and air conditioned cars. We decided to ride outdoors on the way to the pumpkin patch. We were right in front of the caboose.

Checking out the caboose.

He was excited to get going!

When the train would blow its whistle he's cling to me like a koala. :)

Checking out the view on the ride down. Lots of pretty trees and a few golf courses along the way.

Cheese!

Documenting the baby's first train ride!

View of the train up ahead.

He got a little nervous when the train began braking. It was a bumpy ride. We said the baby should definitely be flipped by this point!

The pumpkin patch! He liked watching the big kids blow bubbles.

Coloring his pumpkin.

Checking out his cool tattoo. First one he's had. Like a sticker, but better!

Walking through the mini corn maze. This one was much easier to find our way through!

Posing in the patch. We bought all of our pumpkins for cheap at Aldi, but Sam had fun walking around and checking out the selection.

A nice lady stopped and offered to get a picture of all of us. That's the Ozan Vineyard in the background. They had a wine tasting table for adults.

Getting a pumpkin workout!

Probably the best picture ever taken of Sam. Credit goes to Mark. He was totally in the middle of talking or something. It makes us laugh SO much!

A better shot :)

We sat down for a while and enjoyed some boiled peanuts then Sam had to go hug the big pumpkin. He loves hugging blow ups!

Heading back to the train.

We rode in the enclosed air conditioned car on the way back. It felt great inside!

Looking out over the patch waiting for the train to start back up.

We loved this big train that was back at the station. We found a plaque saying this was actually an Alabama Power locomotive from the 50's!

Pretty patina :)
